Mr Monkey in Ostende, 15th September

"It's a nice looking lighthouse, you know"

Mr Monkey looking at an old radio tower Mr Monkey looking at Lange Nelle lighthouse

Mr Monkey looked at the main fire control centre for MKB Hundius, which became a Belgian Coastguard station after the war, then turned inland. Soon he came to the Lange Nelle lighthouse, which is 65 metres high and gives three white flashes every 10 seconds. Lange Nelle was built in 1949 to replace the lightouse built in 1925 and destroyed by the Germans in World War Two, which itself was a replacement for the 1860 lighthouse destroyed by the Germans in World War One.
