Mr Monkey left the carriage drive and scampered across to the main drive for a look at the Slaughter House. This was originally a place to store venison after the deer had been slaughtered somewhere else, but during the 19th century it was used as a summerhouse. Mr Monkey didn't think it looked at all summery, and thought that having windows that were just painted on wood was a little creepy. So he ran off down the main drive and didn't stop until he got to the Island Pool, one of a number of small lakes installed by the 2nd Earl.
