Mr Monkey scurried along the main drive to the house. Just as he was admiring the lions (who are from the crest of the Booth family) on the forecourt in front of the house it suddenly started to rain, so he dashed into the house. Touring the house he was particularly impressed by the Great Hall. Though designed in the 1730s it was meant to evoke the earlier great hall, apparently because the Duke of Monmouth, Charles II's illegitimate son, ate there the year before he was exiled to Holland.
Photography isn't allowed inside the house, so Mr Monkey is standing in front of a picture from the guide book in the second picture.
