Mr Monkey sees How Manga Took Over the World at Urbis, 21st March

"It's that Hokusai wave again"

Mr Monkey scampered into the large section devoted to action based manga. He looked at some large pictures of the first post-war Japanese comic strip hero, Astro Boy, who was born as Tetsuwan Atom in 1951. He studied some work by Terratag, including the Great Wave Diptych with its Night Fighter and Daylight Raid sections. Then Mr Monkey spent some time watching The Matrix and The Ghost in the Shell and some other animations.

You can read about Astro Boy at the Tezuka Osamus @World website, and about Terratag at the Terratag website.
