Mr Monkey visits the Roman Baths, 2nd June

"It's a really impressive place for a swim, if you like doing that sort of thing"

Mr Monkey arrived at the Great Bath, the heart of the Roman Baths. He scampered along the walkway around the bath, and examined the greenish water, which was giving off a light steam. The pool is 1.5 metres deep, and lined with lead. The water is green because it's full of algae; the Romans always had a roof over the Great Bath, which kept out the sunlight that feeds the algae.
