Mr Monkey stood on the steps of the Chapel to look at the Vladislav Hall from the east end, then trotted down to look at the hall from the west end. When it was finished in 1502 the hall was the largest room in Europe*, big enough to hold a market or a tournament. Mr Monkey admired the ceiling, the large windows, and the 16th century tin chandeliers and wondered why anyone would want to joust indoors.
* 62 metres long, 13 metres wide and 15 metres high.
