Mr Monkey in Matlock Bath, 11th October

"It was probably more useful to cattle before they put the flowers in"

Down the slope from the car park Mr Monkey found a rockery, a pond and a fountain, and wondered how many artificial grottoes there were in Matlock Bath. A little further along the road Mr Monkey found a large trough-shaped plant pot that used to be a water trough installed by the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association in 1906. As a cattle trough it was a lot less ornate than the Association's drinking fountain that Mr Monkey had spotted in Kensington Gardens in 2007.
