Mr Monkey in De Panne, 18th September

Mr Monkey decided that he was going to spend the day looking at Beaufort installations between Ostende and De Panne. He started by catching a tram to De Panne, getting off at the Esplanade stop, and scampering to the old De Lijn tram depot. The Art Deco depot, built in 1936, had four 44 metre long tracks inside. Three were removed in 1957 when the depot was turned into a bus garage. Mr Monkey was intrigued by the counterweight system used to keep the overhead wires tensioned properly.
