Mr Monkey trotted around the Church of Our Lady into Gruuthusestraat. He inspected the statue of Guido Gezelle, the poet-priest who invented modern Flemish poetry, and admired the Gruuthuse. He compared the tower of the Gruuthuse to the tower of the Church of Our Lady, and decided that ivy is a better covering than plastic sheeting.
You can read about Guido Gezelle at the Poetry International Web website, or, in Dutch at the Guido Gezelle archive.
