Mr Monkey was amazed that anyone had to rely on things like this 17th century hand-powered pump to put out fires. He rather admired the brass helmets you got if you were a fireman in the 19th century. The museum has a series of rooms going from the Great Fire of London, up to the present day, and you can only go round with a guide because they don't have too many labels.
