Mr Monkey in London

"It's a journey of a thousand years, but it only took me a couple of hours"

The TURKS exhibition is about Turks, obviously. Mr Monkey was surprised to find that the first Turkic speakers, the Uighurs, came from China. The exhibition includes many magnificient things from the three great Turkic empires, the Seljuks, the Timurids, and the Ottomans. Mr Monkey recommends the children's audio guide - it's funnier than the adult version. Of course we weren't allowed to take pictures inside the exhibition, so Mr Monkey is standing in front of pictures from the Teacher's Guide.

You can read about the exhibition at the Royal Academy TURKS website.
