Mr Monkey set off along a path down the west side of Roosevelt Island. This side of the island was sheltered from the sun, and the snow was still deep and crisp. Mr Monkey avoided walking on it himself, in case it turned into water without warning. He paused to watch a ship sail up the West Channel, which seemed to be much more placid than the waters at the top of the island.
