Mr Monkey's Dockland Walk

"It's madness, dangerous watery madness"

Mr Monkey outside the Town of Ramsgate pub Mr Monkey at the top of Wapping Old Stairs

Walking along Wapping High Street, Mr Monkey came to The Town of Ramsgate pub. Judge Jeffries stopped here whilst escaping from England after the Great Revolution of 1688, and as a result didn't actually escape. Next to the pub is a narrow alley which ends at the top of Wapping Old Stairs, where the Ramsgate fishermen who gave the pub its 19th cenury name landed their catches. Mr Monkey wasn't totally impressed with the idea of stairs that just end in a lot of water.

You can read about Judge Jeffries at the Wikepedia website.
