Mr Monkey at the Musée Royal de l'Armée

"These probably seemed like good ideas at the time"

Mr Monkey was interested by an early German anti-aircraft gun, made by balancing an 7.7cm Krupp M1896 field gun on a strange wooden carriage, and by something called a Fahrpanzer. This is a small turret, holding a 5.3cm gun, with little wheels that allows it to run around on narrow gauge railway lines. It was apparently designed for use in forts; probably, Mr Monkey thought, the sort of fort that's got a railway but has its gun turrets in the wrong place.
