Mr Monkey in Malmö, August 5th

"You'd expect a statue after doing that, wouldn't you?"

Mr Monkey trotted across the square to look at the statue of Carl X Gustav sitting on his horse. He's got a statue because he grabbed Malmö and the whole province of Skåne back from Denmark in 1658, after marching his army across the frozen Øresund to attack Copenhagen. A moment or two later, Mr Monkey was distracted by the painted advertisements on the side of the Lion Pharmacy.

You can read a bit about Carl (or Charles, or Karl) X Gustav at the Wikipedia website.
