Mr Monkey in London, January 10th

"It's almost too narrow, even for a monkey"

Mr Monkey scurrying through a Ely Court Mr Monkey passing Ye Olde Mitre Tavern

Mr Monkey left Ely Place by running into Ely Court, a narrow passage with a pub in it. This is Ye Olde Mitre Tavern, built in 1546, which claims to be one of the oldest pubs in London, and to have a cherry tree trunk that Elizabeth I danced round inside the bar.
