Mr Monkey at the Bristol Industrial Museum

"I'm not sure I trust that water squirting boat"

Mr Monkey looking at the tug John King Mr Monkey looking at the Mayflower and the Pyronaut

Before going inside, Mr Monkey noticed the museum boats. These are the 1934 fireboat Pyronaut, the 1935 tug Mayflower, both built by C. Hills & Sons Ltd, and the steam tug John King built in 1861 by Stothert & Marten. All these boats were built in Bristol. If you go on the right day, you can have trips in the harbour aboard these boats. Mr Monkey didn't go on the right day.

At the National Register of Historic Vessels website you can find details of the John King, the Pyronaut and the Mayflower, and you can read the text of a lecture about preserving these boats at the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association website.
