After the last of the Left Coast Crime events had finished, Mr Monkey set off into Bristol. He scampered along King Street. At the end near Queen Square he had a quick look at the Merchant Venturers' Almhouses, which have been homes for retired mariners since the 17th century. At the other end of the street, he looked at the Llandoger Trow. This pub was originally five houses, built in 1664, and is named after flat-bottomed sailing barges that were used to trade between Bristol and Wales. The Admiral Benbow Inn in Stevenson's Treasure Island is supposed to be based on this pub.
