Mr Monkey in Bristol, March 19th

"I'm still wondering if the empire was a good idea or not"

For a while, there were two railway stations next to each other in the middle of Bristol. One of them, the terminus built by Brunel for his Great Western Railway, is now the home of the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum. Mr Monkey scampered along to the museum, and went in. Through a series of displays of artefacts, recordings and short films, Mr Monkey learned about European explorers, British merchants creating private trading empires, the rise of the British Empire and how it turned into the Commonwealth. And he found out that he was much better at sending morse code than Mr Rik or Miss Carol.

You can read about the museum at the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum website.
