Mr Monkey in Ostende, August 28th

"He wasn't the nicest of rulers, that Leopold II"

Mr Monkey looking at the monument to Leopold II Mr Monkey looking at the Venetian galleries

Between two sections of the Royal Galleries, originally built to connect a royal pavilion to the race course, Mr Monkey examined the Leopold II monument. On the right are the people of Ostende being grateful to Leopold II, and on the left are the people of the Congo being grateful to Leopold II. Mr Monkey still doesn't think the people of the Congo had any reason to be grateful (or even polite) to Leopold II.
