Mr Monkey at St Bavo's Cathedral

"You should really see it in real life"

Mr Monkey scurried to the de Villa Chapel, current home of the Mystic Lamb. The altarpiece was painted by the Van Eyck brothers and donated to the cathedral by Jodocus Vyd and his wife Elizabeth Borluut. Mr Monkey listened to the audio guide and tried to understand the mystic symbolism of each of the 24 panels*. No-one, not even a monkey, is allowed to take pictures of the altarpiece, so when he got home Mr Monkey posed with a large postcard his humans bought at the cathedral.

You can see better pictures of the altarpiece at the Travel info on Belgium website.
