Mr Monkey in the Belfry, August 28th

"It's surprisingly quiet when you're near it"

Mr Monkey looking at damaged bells from the carillon Mr Monkey in front of Klokke Roeland

On the third floor, Mr Monkey inspected the damaged bells which have been retired from the carillon over the years since a set of 37 were cast by Pieter Hemony van Zutphen in 1659. On the fourth floor Mr Monkey looked at the main bell, Klokke Roeland, and watched as the row of little hammers made it chime the hour. Sometimes, Klokke Roeland is rung by swinging it rather than by using the hammers, but only on very special occasions.
