Mr Monkey in Harrogate, 19th July

"He looked quite surprised he'd won, you know"

Mr Monkey watching the Theakston prize being awarded Mr Monkey outside the Harrogate Brasserie

In the evening, Mr Monkey went to find out who had won the Theakston Old Peculier prize for crime writing. Mr Monkey listened to the shortlisted writers, Stephen Booth, Chris Brookmyre, Allan Guthrie, Graham Hurley, Michael Jecks and Stuart McBride talk about their books, before Allan Guthrie was given the prize, voted for by actual readers and not just given by a judging panel, for his book Two-Way Split. After Mr Guthrie got the prize, Mr Monkey took his humans out to eat at the Harrogate Brasserie.

You can read about the restaurant at the Harrogate Brasserie website.
