Mr Monkey trotted up the steps into the cab of the Duchess of Hamilton, where he was shown the controls of the locomotive. He peered out of the right hand side window, where the fireman would sit when he wasn't feeding coal into the furnace. Mr Monkey remembered that the Duchess of Sutherland, the locomotive that had hauled his train from Stockport was the same class as the Duchess of Hamilton, though it was never streamlined.
