Mr Monkey ran along to the North Tower. This used to be taller, but the top was removed to make it into a better platform for three cannon. Mr Monkey had a look inside, but it was very small and unpleasant, which would be why they used it as a prison for people too poor and unimportant to be locked up in the Central Tower. He ran along the west wall to the Spur, which was added between 1542 and 1567 to protect the new entrance, and down a handy staircase.
