Mr Monkey spent Friday sitting very politely in panels, listening to authors discuss their work. Richard Burke, Vicki Delaney, Liz Rigbey and Francesca Weisman talked about the past haunting their characters; Ron Ellis, Denise Hamilton, Janet Laurence, Bill Moody and Ann Cleeves dealt with using real people in fiction; Patricia Hall, Barbara Fradkin and David Walks-as-Bear considered the differences between the police in the UK and US; Bill Moody talked about jazz; and Liza Cody, Kerry Greenwood, Jacqueline Winspear and Michelle Spring pitted flappers against kick-ass heroines. Some of the panels were in small rooms, and some were in a rather large room.
