At the bottom of Bridge Street, Mr Monkey ran out onto the Old Dee Bridge. He walked part of the way across, then looked over one side at the weir. This was originally built in the 11th century and channelled the Dee under two of the arches of the bridge (which was narrower than it is now, and wooden) to power waterwheels.
