Mr Monkey arrived at the main entrance to the Saltzedel Neu battery, which seemed a little lightly defended to him. Rommel came through these gates when he came to inspect the battery in December 1943, and they've got photos to prove it. A little further up the entrance road Mr Monkey came to the parade ground, which now has a display of the sort of defences that the Germans scattered across the beaches of Belgium and France.
