Mr Monkey visits Het Gravensteen

"It's a rather damp cellar"

Mr Monkey scampered down a set of steps into the cellar of the keep. Before the keep was built on top of it, this was a three storey building. Philip of Alsace turned the ground and first floors into a cellar, and the floor was heightened in the 13th or 14th century. Mr Monkey wondered if that had anything to do with the size of the puddles in the bits that had been dug out by later archaeologists.
